| Difficulty | Difficult only due to speed and commitment to knowing the material. Otherwise moderately difficult. |
| Comments | A high-energy orchestral dance/overture: Tonal, heavy beat (without percussion), almost a concerto grosso featuring the cello section. Big horns, lovely winds. Initially difficult but gratifying to learn and play. Inspired by hard winters in Vermont and cutting ice from ponds before the mid-20th century. |

| Comments | Mirrored Birds is a concerto commissioned as an homage to flautist and composer Louis Moyse on the occasion of a special concert of the Montpelier Chamber Orchestra Society for Moyse's 90th birthday. The work is rhythmic high minimalism in three continuous movements with central cadenza in the second movement; the flute rises out of and falls back into the orchestra texture as the music develops. |
