CommentsThree movements representing composer's reflections on reproductions of Chagall Stage Designs for Stravinsky's Firebird. Titles: I - The Enchanted Forest; II - The Enchanted Palace: III - Red and White (Stellar Spheres). The work is tonal with free use of dissonance. Lyrical, expressive. Final fast movement has frequent meter changes. The work is not based on the influence or style of Stravinsky.

HistoryThe work was selected, in a national competition, by the American Composers Forum and the Minnesota Plymouth Series for their Orchestra Reading Program. After a brief rehearsal, the work is read and recorded. The tape available is that of the Plymouth Orchestra reading in Feb, 2000 under the baton of Philip Brunelle. There has been no official public premiere of the work.
